Ninth Infantry Division
Viet Nam 1967
Sailing, Sailing, O'er the Bounding Main!

The Ninth Division was reactivated for the Viet Nam war. With a cadre of senior officers and enlisted personnel, recruits were given Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Training in their MOS, all at Fort Riley, Kansas.

In December, 1966, the 9th Division left Fort Riley on troop trains and loaded onto ships in San Francisco Bay. These photos show some of the ships at the dock, then the passage past Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate Bridge. The last photo is of the King Neptune ceremony as the troops crossed the equator. (I apologize for the quality, but these were taken with a Minox, which, in 1966, was not noted for distance shooting - only for spying).
